Fire Suppression System Refills

Much like the familiar portable fire extinguishers which we see dotted around every building, Fire Suppression systems are 'one shot' assemblies. When they have been called on to suppress a fire, they must be attended by a qualified engineer to be cleaned, refilled and recommissioned.

The exact task list is very much dependent on the brand and type of installation, but essentially the system will require examination to see how it was activated (usually obvious!). If the detection has been subject to fire, some or all of it will require replacement.

The pipework for the system will be flushed through. If suppression fluid is left in the pipework or nozzle assemblies, it will solidify and cause blockages. Once the system is clean and reassembled, it will be refilled with both fluid and nitrogen and recommissioned.

It's important that service providers are able to react quickly to requests for refill as a kitchen is not protected once a system has been discharged.

Information regarding clean-up procedures after a discharge is available upon request.
